X-ray Information

Radiology Tasmania uses a state of the art Shimadzu RAD speed x-ray unit. This latest technology allows us to produce high quality images.

What is an X-ray?
An x-ray is a quick and easy diagnostic test. X-rays pass through your body parts in different amounts, allowing us to record an image of the various structures of your body.

How do I prepare?
For a plain x-ray, there is very little preparation. You may be asked to change into a patient gown.

What should I bring?

  • Your referral form from your doctor
  • Any old x-rays or other scans you have kept
.
What happens during the Examination?
  • During your x-ray you will be asked to lie, sit, or stand against an x-ray cassette
  • You will be asked to keep still while the x-ray is being taken (which usually takes a fraction of a second)
  • The x-ray cassette will then be put into a special machine, which produces the final image for the doctor to see

If you think you could be pregnant please tell the radiographer before your scan.

If you have any questions just ask.
