CT Scans
Radiology Tasmania has the latest, 2007 model Siemens Emotion 6 multislice CT scanner.
Multislice CT scanners are the fastest and best CT scanners available and can produce high resolution images, and 3D pictures as well.
Preparation
To ensure we have the best image you may be asked to:
- Change into an examination gown
- Drink a contrast agent (a watery drink)
- Fast for food for 2 hours before your appointment
- If an injection of x-ray dye is required you will be asked to fill in a questionnaire
The Scan
You will be asked to lie on a special table, which slowly moves through the Scanner while the CT pictures are taken. It is important to keep still. The scan will take between 5 and 20 minutes.
XRay Dye
Sometimes an injection of xray dye (contrast) may be given into a vein in your arm. If you need this we will discuss the process with you.
If you are allergic to anything, or think you could be pregnant please tell the radiographer BEFORE your scan.
